**CASEA Clinician - CAMHS & Schools Early Action (CASEA) Team**

**Classification**: Psychologist Grade 2: PK1 - 4, Occupational Therapist Grade: YB20 - 23, Social Worker Grade 2: YC42 - 45, Speech Pathology: YB47 - 50, Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 3: NP81 - 83 or NP74.

**About the Mental Health Program**

Monash Health Mental Health Services provides a range of community, bed-based and specialist services covering the Casey, Cardinia, Greater Dandenong, Kingston and Monash LGAs - a population of nearly one million. It has an operational budget of $130 million and employs approximately 820 EFT, representing over 1000 staff. The Program has a number of clinical units including three adult units (Casey, Dandenong and Clayton), an Early in Life Mental Health Service (comprising Perinatal & infant, child, and adolescent services), Young Persons' Mental Health Service, Psychology and Specialist Services (PsySS), Drug & Alcohol service and Gender Dysphoria Clinic. Southern Synergy supports the Mental Health Programs with specialist research innovations. The program has five PARCS (Prevention and Recovery Care Services) which includes a specialist Women's only PARCS, an Extended Care PARCS and Youth PARCS, and two Community Care Units providing community mental health recovery and psychosocial rehabilitation for consumers. The clinical service is supported by an aligned operational structure to enable the provision of high quality service through the creation of clinical-operational partnerships to support staff, patients, carers and their families, and a strong professional structure that supports the governance of the health professional workforce.

**About the Early in Life Mental Health Service (ELMHS)**

ELMHS provides a range of mental health services to pregnant mothers, infants, children, adolescents, and their families within the Southern Region. The organisational and clinical model has been developed to provide mental health care that is flexible and responsive to the individual and developmental needs of the perinatal to adolescent populations and their families. As such, this model will support the provision of integrated mental health care for young people, guided by consistent, service-wide protocols and principles of care.

**About the Role**

The Monash Health CAMHS and Schools Early Action (CASEA) Program is a joint initiative of Early in Life Mental Health Service (ELMHS), the Department of Health, Department of Early Education and Childhood Development (DEECD) and Catholic Education Office of Melbourne (CEOM). Designed as an early intervention program, the CASEA program is conducted in school settings with children identified as being at risk of developing serious behaviour problems including Conduct Disorder. The focus of the program is to up skill teachers in child and parenting group programs that they will deliver in partnership with CASEA staff. The key components of the role include:

- Provision of group interventions to children and parents identified in collaboration with education staff and 4working in collaboration with education staff to deliver these interventions
- The identification and assessment of children and parents for suitability for group interventions, undertaken in collaboration with education staff.
- Provision of therapeutic support to the 'system' around the young person in a collaborative and reflective partnership with other involved agencies.
- Primary and Secondary Consultation
- Education and Training to education staff
- Facilitation and coordination of appropriate referrals following assessment to relevant mental health service providers (primary care, public or private mental health service sector), where CASEA group interventions are deemed inappropriate.
- Working collaboratively as a member of the CASEA multidisciplinary team and sharing team duties

The CASEA clinician will work across three large and quite different service systems - Early in Life Mental Health Service, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) and the Catholic Education Office Melbourne. It is an expectation that the role will also promote good working relationships and a greater understanding between the three agencies.
