Job Title: Work, Health and safety (WHS) Administration Trainee

Classification: Administration and Support Officer (ASO)

Employment Conditions: Full Time Contract

Salary: $69,281 - $74,908 per annum.

Generous salary packaging: $15,899.94 p/a

Professional development incentive: Allowance of $1,500 p/a

Employment Type: Full Time

Reports to: Executive Manager Human Resources

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (AHAC) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region, dedicated to “Closing the Gap” in Aboriginal health within remote Australia.

Anyinginyi Health consists of four sections (Health Services, Business Services, Public Health Unit, and Piliyintinji-Ki Stronger Families) that enable a holistic approach to health, ensuring that clients' physical and emotional wellbeing is given utmost priority.

About the Role

As the Workplace Health and Safety Administration Trainee, you will learn about WHS legislation, systems, and workplace procedures while being supported and mentored as you work towards the nationally recognised Certificate III in Work Health and Safety (BSB30719). This position interacts with and builds rapport across the organisation and with Department Heads.

The traineeship is ideal for someone with an administration background or experience in quality assurance, interested in pursuing a career in Workplace Health and Safety.

Duties

- Assist with maintaining WHS documentation and records.
- Promote awareness of health and safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with monitoring WHS incidents, near misses and procedures.
- Update and ensure accuracy of internal checklists and folders.
- Assist with the development of health and safety policies and procedures in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend and implement preventive measures.
- Stay abreast of relevant occupational health and safety regulations.
- Foster positive relationships with key stakeholders (external contacts, CQI facilitator, Executive Team, etc.) to promote a collaborative approach to health and safety management.
- Other duties as specified from time to time and at the relevant award level, by the Executive Manager Human Resources.

About You

To be considered for this position, you must demonstrate respect for Aboriginal culture and cultural diversity, be eligible to complete a traineeship in Australia (Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident), have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and possess a demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the cultural context of Aboriginal Health.

Essential Skills and Experience

- Eligibility to complete a traineeship in Australia – Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident.
- Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the cultural context of Aboriginal health, with the ability to tailor health and safety initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Genuine interest in a career within Workplace Health and Safety.
- Critical thinking and strong attention to detail.
- Solid computer and Microsoft Office skills.
- Commitment to safety and compliance – Previous experience in Quality Assurance and/or administration is highly regarded.
- Current Northern Territory Driver’s License.
- Be in possession or can obtain an OCHRE Card (Working with Children check).

Desirable Skills and Experience

- Other risk-related qualifications.

Prerequisites

A National Police Clearance and an OCHRE Card (NT Working with Children’s) card obtainment is required prior to commencement. Refer to NT Protected for further information.
