Description

Saints Academy Educators provide education and care for children enrolled at the service, consistent with our core learning approach, philosophy, curriculum, and the National Quality Framework.

Educators work in collaboration with the Coordinator (Nominated Supervisor), the Educational Leader, and other Educators.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS

* Working knowledge of My Time, Our Place learning framework for school‑age children in Australia;
* Knowledge of Education and Care Services National Regulations;
* Ability to partner with families;
* Effective communication skills with adults and children;
* A growth mindset embracing the Saints Academy learning approach;
* Contribution to workplace health and safety;
* Support for other staff in the centre;
* Dynamic and supportive team member, meeting high‑quality care standards under the National Quality Framework.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES


In respect of the Mission

* Uphold the vision of the Centre;
* Support Biblical values and sensitively teach Biblical truths;
* Speak openly and sensitively to children of the Christian faith;
* Support and encourage families in need;
* Pray with other staff for the needs of the Centre.


In respect of Personal Faith

* Active member of a Christian church;
* Seek regular Christian teaching and fellowship;
* Display the fruit of the Spirit in daily life;
* Handle Centre matters confidentially;
* Participate in staff evaluation examining personal, spiritual and professional development.


In respect of Education and Care of Children

* Act in a manner that promotes the best interests of the child;
* Implement a high‑quality education and care program consistent with the Service philosophy, Saints Academy core learning approach, national regulations and standards, and My Time, Our Place framework;
* Respond to children's strengths, interests and needs and contribute to planning and reviews;
* Document children's learning and development under the Coordinator and Educational Leader's guidance;
* Engage in critical reflection to guide future planning;
* Provide learning opportunities responsive to meaningful moments, intentional and spontaneous interactions, children's agency, routine times, and environmental sustainability;
* Support an inclusive environment and model positive interactions;
* Respect children's similarities, differences, cultures and diversities, and maintain dignity and rights;
* Provide physical care, assisting with toileting and dressing as appropriate;
* Support children's wellbeing, rest, and relaxation;
* Ensure the environment is ready for operation, reflects curiosity and pro‑sustainability practices;
* Ensure each child feels being, belonging and becoming;
* Plan activities that meet developmental needs and interests;
* Ensure compliance with regulations, licensing guidelines, policies and procedures.


In respect of Partnerships with Families and Community

* Respect families' child‑rearing practices and beliefs;
* Build and maintain professional, inclusive relationships with families;
* Communicate professionally and maintain confidentiality;
* Draw on family knowledge to support learning;
* Assist in orientation, enrolment and transition processes under Coordinator guidance.


In Respect Of Partnerships With Other Educators And Professionals

* Support colleagues through mutually respectful communication;
* Acknowledge and support personal strengths, experience and team diversity;
* Engage in professional conversations to enhance knowledge and practice;
* Proactively support a healthy team environment;
* Support staff in implementing the core learning program;
* Welcome new and junior staff positively, supporting and assisting;
* Inform the Nominated Supervisor of any problems affecting children, service approval, rating, or compliance;
* Participate in the Service's Quality Improvement Plan and assist in implementation;
* Perform additional duties as directed;
* Maintain supplies and equipment levels;
* Handle incidental administrative duties, e.g., signing for deliveries, organising noticeboards.


In respect of Professional Conduct and Learning

* Work within the National Quality Framework, SPCC Staff Code of Conduct, and service policies and procedures;
* Maintain effective teamwork;
* Participate in performance appraisal;
* Engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional learning;
* Attend staff meetings and professional learning events;
* Undertake food safe training at intervals decided by responsible authority;
* Undertake first aid training, including anaphylaxis and asthma, at intervals decided by responsible authority;
* Undertake approved child protection training at intervals decided by responsible authority.


In respect of Organisational Staff Representation and Saints Academy

* Support the organisation's philosophy and policies, representing it positively in external contacts;
* Uphold St Philip's Christian College vision, mission and values;
* Uphold Saints Academy values, vision and philosophy;
* Collaborate, attend staff meetings and implement all Centre policies and procedures.


In respect of Workplace Health and Safety

* Work safely, avoiding risks to self or others;
* Ensure a safe environment and act immediately on safety issues;
* Follow child protection and child safe standards, reporting as required;
* Maintain safe environment for children and staff;
* Implement emergency procedures;
* Maintain the Service's duty of care to children and families;
* Maintain educator‑to‑child ratios;
* Administer first aid and medication according to procedures and keep detailed records;
* Respond consistently to children's additional needs, including diets, allergies and development;
* Share cleaning duties equally.
