**The Role**
Operating on 3,200Ha of Tasmania's beautiful Midlands comprising of native bush and quality arable land, this family mixed enterprise annually fattens 7,500 second cross prime lambs produced from their flock of 6,000 cross-bred ewes. The progeny of 180 Angus breeders are prepared for the Heavy Steer markets along with the lambs on centre-pivot irrigated fodder.
Cropping is also an important operation focus, annually producing 300 ha of Wheat, Barley, and Canola. Irrigated fodder crops include forage rape and white clover with pharmaceutical poppies and lucerne also produced for select markets.
An opportunity is now available for an experienced farm hand to join the small established team, understanding that this is a varied enterprise, the family have a particular interest in applicants with strong mechanical aptitude and sheep handling expertise and or a willingness to develop in this area. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be involved in animal husbandry and will either have some working dogs or have a willingness to obtain them.
When not working with the livestock your other focus will be the maintenance and repair of the modern Case and John Deere machinery, a 9-meter Morris tyned air seeder along with Mack and Freightliner trucks and trailers, therefore mechanical aptitude is key to your success in this role.
All staff are involved in the ongoing maintenance of farm infrastructure including fencing and the cropping elements during peak seasons of sowing and harvest.

**The Offer**
The successful applicant will negotiate an hourly rate reflective of their existing skills and abilities along with a work vehicle and a comfortable 3-bedroom home that has modern fixtures including a wood heater.
Located approximately halfway between Hobart and Launceston. The property is 20 kilometres from the local township of Ross which will provide basic necessities and 30 kilometres from Campbelltown where you will find schools, health care and other amenities.
Bypassed by the Midland Highway Ross is a tranquil village steeped in history with many sites to visit including its famous bakeries along with a range of outdoor activities for families.

- Own quality dog or willingness to obtain
- General farming knowledge
- MR licence desirable but not essential
- Previous cropping experience is desirable.
- Willingness to learn and a passion for agriculture.
