DescriptionWe are looking for a full-time Claims Advisor with experience in all lines of financial and professional lines insurance to join the Australian Claims Team.
This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, or Perth and may require occasional interstate travel based on client and business needs.In this role, you will provide claims advocacy for national clients by offering technical advice and support throughout the claims process.
This includes commercial settlement negotiations directly with the carrier(s) on risk and creative problem-solving.
You will act as an advocate for all Financial Lines claims classes, including professional indemnity, cyber liability, management liability, employment practices liability, medical malpractice, Directors & Officers, Warranties & Indemnities, and statutory liability.The RoleManage a portfolio of claims across Financial linesProvide advice, reporting, and support to clients in negotiating and settling losses, partnering with the client advocate broker as neededWork with and guide client advocate brokers to manage clients' expectations throughout the life of a claimMeet with clients and prospective clients to demonstrate claims management expertiseNegotiate on behalf of clients with insurers and/or insurer-appointed representatives (e.g., panel lawyers)Engage with all relevant parties to resolve coverage disputesProvide claims advice for specific Finex classes/industry-specific clients and internal stakeholdersConduct or cooperate with claims reviews (online/onsite) and periodic legacy claims audits/reviewsProvide claims-specific inputs to client tender processes (Request for Proposal), working with the client advocate and meeting with prospective clients as requiredCollaborate with the Financial Lines claims leader and team members to support the management of client claim portfolios and further develop skills and expertiseContribute to claims thought leadershipQualificationsThe RequirementsLaw Degree or equivalent formal qualification would be highly regarded but is not a prerequisiteCert IV in general insurance and Diploma qualification (or equivalent experience) would be highly regarded but is not a prerequisiteHolder of all regulatory licenses, permissions and technical or other requirements applicable under local legislationHighly organised, detail-focused individual who takes pride in their workKnowledge of insurance regulations, guidelines and legislationExcellent communication skills (both verbal and written)Strong ability to build and manage relationshipsSound ability to facilitate training and presentationsProficiency in Microsoft Office and OutlookSome travel will be required, and you are required to have a valid and appropriate driver's licence
