vessels.
The Gold Coast marine industry is busier than ever and we require skilled, hard working and
efficient members to join our team for an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
· Confer with clients and review job specifications to determine appropriate materials, measurements, design requirements and cost considerations for marine and automotive upholstery projects.
· Measure, mark and cut vinyl, leather, fabric and marine canvas materials to required dimensions in preparation for covering furniture, seating and interior structures.
· Remove coverings, webbing, padding, springs and defective internal components from existing furniture, boat seating and automotive interiors.
· Make, repair and modify wooden and metal frames where required, including replacing defective support structures and springs to restore structural integrity.
· Secure springs, webbing, foam, padding and other support materials to frames using hand and power tools to ensure correct shape, comfort and durability.
· Sew and seam cushions, join sections of covering materials and assemble upholstery components using industrial sewing machines to achieve accurate stitching and durable finishes.
· Cover and upholster seating, side panels, headliners, cushions and interior fittings by securing material, padding and support components using adhesives, staples, fasteners and hand tools.
· Attach trims, bindings and decorative finishes where required to complete upholstery projects.
· Manufacture, repair and install marine canvas products including boat covers, clears, biminis and protective enclosures.
· Carry out repair work, alterations and replacement of damaged or worn upholstery and canvas products.
· Maintain tools, equipment and machinery in safe operating condition and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety procedures.
Skills and Experience Required
· Certificate III or IV in Upholstery, Furniture Making, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
· Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in upholstery, marine or automotive seating, or furniture restoration.
· Proficient in using industrial sewing machines, hand tools, power tools, and adhesives for upholstery and canvas work.
· Strong attention to detail, precision, and problem-solving skills to achieve high-quality finishes.
· Good computer literacy for record-keeping, material tracking, and client communication.
· Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a workshop or team environment.
· Current driver’s license required to transport materials, tools, and project items between sites as needed.
