Garment Development Specialist
We are seeking a skilled Freelance Garment Technician to work with our design team in Sydney. The ideal candidate will have expertise in garment construction and fabric consumption.
About the Role
* Collaborate with designers to interpret sketches into initial specification sheets and provide technical advice on garment construction.
* Conduct preparation of samples prior to Fitting: measuring of samples & cross checking any discrepancies with factory measurements, ensuring all requested amendments are reflected and reviewing workmanship.
* Lead fit sessions and demonstrate technical advice and problem solving alongside the designer.
* Process fit comments and provide technical instructions to suppliers with the support of photographs, diagrams, and videos where necessary.
* Liaise daily with suppliers to ensure production friendly methods and workshopping best practices for bulk.
* Maintain and uphold standards of workmanship and construction techniques across all suppliers.
* Define and maintain grading rules and tolerances for each garment type.
* Conduct in-store quality spot checks and communicate findings to management.
* Identify styles that require 3rd party inspections and organize sealer packs.
* Report on seasonal production issues, detailing factory performance against target expectations.
* Flag any issues that could impact delivery with production management at planning stage.
* Assess returns and address recurring issues.
* Attend weekly team meetings to provide updates on workflow in line with critical path expectations.
* Contribute to building internal manuals and supplier guides.
* Organize storage of production samples.
