Cactus Kangaroo Island is looking for an experienced full-time cook to join the expanding team on Kangaroo Island. We are a busy cafe/restaurant at the heart of Kingscote, currently serving breakfast and lunch daily highlighting local produces and products. We are seeking a highly motivated chef to join the young team at Cactus, working at a high paced kitchen with a team of an ethnically diverse group. The right candidate must have experience in hot cooking, motivated and a solid team player and have good organising skills. The right candidate will be provided with a good salary package which includes accommodation and added bonuses yearly.
Job Duties:
- Prepare, season and cook food as directed, meeting dietary requirements where required
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Oversee and manage kitchen operations
- Clean and organise kitchen and equipment in adherence to hygiene and safety regulations
- Preserve and store foodstuffs in the appropriate temperature-controlled facilities
- Train apprentices and other kitchen staff
Additional Duties:
- Food shopping
- Recording food temperature
- Menu planning
Qualification: Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (Preferred)
Work experience: at least 2 years relevant work experience
