Why Your Role Matters
The Consumer Advocacy and Engagement Manager will play a central leadership role in embedding consumer perspectives into research and strategic activities within Child UnLimited (UnLTD) and the Population Child Health Research Group at UNSW Sydney. The role will lead strategic consumer engagement across national and international child health research initiatives, acting as the senior point of contact for consumer partnership, advocacy, and stakeholder collaboration. Lived experience of childhood chronic illness or disability (personally or as a parent, carer, or family member) is essential to this role.
Working closely with researchers, clinicians, and consumers, the position ensures that children, young people, families, and carers with lived experience are meaningfully involved across all stages of research design, evaluation, and translation. The role provides strategic oversight and expert advice on best-practice, equity-driven consumer engagement, supports the Consumer Advisory Board and Youth Mentor Program, and represents Child UnLimited at conferences, advisory panels, and sector forums.
Reporting to a Professor within the School of Clinical Medicine, this autonomous role requires strong strategic vision, professional judgment, and leadership in advancing consumer-led research, policy influence, and health systems innovation, with no direct reports.
