ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a customer focussed and creative team member to lead our waste education initiatives and make a positive environmental impact on South Gippsland.
This is a dynamic role which will project manage a range of programs and events that raise community awareness of waste initiatives. You'll develop engaging content for websites, social media, promotional materials and media releases, ensuring our messaging is clear and consistent. You'll also stay on top of emerging waste, recycling and sustainability trends and technology to drive innovation and seek out grant funding.
Key responsibilities include:
* Community waste education.
* Creating website and social media content, promotional materials and media releases.
* Implementing actions and outcomes of kerbside audits of domestic and commercial bins.
* Developing waste and recycling education and communications.
* Assisting in the preparation of applications for grant programs and the delivery of grant funded projects.
* Responding to customer enquiries.
* Collaborating with contractors, Gippsland councils and other key partners.
* Engaging with our community including residents, local schools, businesses, and community groups.
* Preparing waste education and engagement materials, reports, policies, publications and other correspondence for the Council and the community.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful for this role you'll bring:
* A degree qualified in environmental science, education, community engagement, communications or related field, or lesser formal qualifications or substantial relevant experience.
* Experience in the development and delivery of engagement, education and communication programs, preferably associated with waste management or sustainability.
* Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
* Proven organisational skills and ability to set priorities and work under pressure to achieve set deadlines.
* Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate and engage with a range of stakeholders.
