About the Role:
The School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (CME) is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable academic with proven teaching skills and experience across all fields of civil engineering, to develop and deliver high quality teaching programs in the Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Professional Engineering programs. This will include lecturing at various undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervision of student research projects at undergraduate, Honours and Master's and PhD levels. You will also have the opportunity to develop your own research program.

Your responsibilities will include:
* Actively contribute to the organisation, planning, delivery and evaluation of teaching in our Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Professional Engineering programs.
* Demonstrate best practice, innovative teaching methods which enhance the student experience.
* Undertake world-class research, including publications in high impact peer-reviewed journals and successful grant applications.
* Actively engage with the Civil Engineering discipline and promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
* Apply relevant health and safety standards, including required responsibilities of Supervisors for practical classes and research students.
* Promote the discipline within and outside the University community by engaging in service and leadership roles, as well as outreach activities.
* In all interactions with staff and students, demonstrate the University values of integrity, respect, courage, excellence and impact.
Who we're looking for - Selection Criteria:
* PhD in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, and post-doctoral research and/or industry experience.
* Experience teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate coursework in civil and or structural engineering.
* Demonstrated ability or potential to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
* Demonstrable track record of research, including funding success and high-quality publications, relative to opportunity.
* Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students and staff respectfully across cultures and collaborate collegially.
* Demonstrated commitment to integrity, health and safety, equity and inclusivity.
* Research capacity in structural health monitoring
* A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and a record of contribution to the scholarship of teaching in the discipline.
Role Requirements:
* As this is a fixed term position, you will require work rights that match the tenure of the role. We invite applications from Australian citizens, Permanent Residents and temporary visa holders.

The School of CME delivers undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and high-quality research in civil and mechanical engineering. Curtin is recognised internationally as a leader in graduate research studies and for the breadth and quality of its research higher degree programs and offers Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The school has acquired laboratory facilities worth over $5 million and has a student retention rate 90% retained in School programs, with 93% retained at Curtin, one of the highest student-satisfaction rates across the university.
