About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician (Light Vehicle) to join our workshop team in Port Melbourne. This role is suitable for a qualified mechanic with hands-on experience in servicing and repairing modern passenger vehicles in a professional workshop environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in light vehicles using diagnostic tools and computerised systems
* Performing scheduled servicing and routine maintenance, including oil changes, brake repairs, suspension work, and engine tune-ups
* Dismantling, repairing, replacing, and reassembling engines, transmissions, steering systems, and other mechanical components
* Testing and adjusting repaired components to ensure proper operation and manufacturer specifications are met
* Interpreting service manuals, technical bulletins, and diagnostic data for European and other passenger vehicles
* Inspecting vehicles to identify defects and recommending required repairs to achieve roadworthiness
* Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements and environmental regulations
* Maintaining accurate service and repair records in line with workshop procedures
Skills and Experience
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
* Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time work experience as a light vehicle mechanic or mechanical technician
* Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)
* Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing modern light vehicles
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a workshop team
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
