This role is responsible for managing a base of business advisory & SMSF clients, mentoring and supervising staff, preparation of financial statements and tax returns.
ABOUT OUR CLIENT
Located in Geelong, this is a small boutique taxation & financial planning practice, dedicated to delivering high-quality advice and exceptional client experiences. They are seeking a like-minded experienced senior accountant to join and help lead their Public Practice team, with the opportunity to take on an existing book of clients while also building new relationships. THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The primary responsibility of this role is to be one of the first points of contact for our Accounting Practice client portfolio and provide high-quality taxation and business advisory services. You'll be part of a supportive and collaborative team, working closely with colleagues and the administrative staff to ensure clients receive exceptional service.
THIS ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
* Managing your own portfolio of clients, ensuring high-quality service, compliance, and timely delivery to build excellent relationships.
* Preparing tax returns and financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
* Providing high level of tax compliance for all entities and clients.
* Assisting with business advisory engagements including budgeting, forecasting, and structuring.
* Preparing strategic advice for client meetings.
* Preparing BAS, IAS, FBT, and other compliance documents as required.
* Assisting with internal processes and improving efficiencies within the firm.
* Assist with budgeting, billing, and identifying value add opportunities within your client base.
* Liaising with tax authorities and responding to queries as needed to ensure compliance.
* Mentoring and providing guidance to junior and administrative staff.
* Managing a portfolio of clients and entities, taking responsibility for the day-to-day advice and taxation aspects.
* Meeting ongoing deadlines to ensure reporting timeframes are achieved.
IDEALLY YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING
* 5+ years in public practice accounting, taxation, financial and business management experience.
* Relevant Business, Accounting, Commerce or Economics degree.
* Professional qualifications (CA/CPA) or actively working towards a qualification.
* Current & up to date knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
* Strong client servicing and people skills with the ability to engage with clients and build on existing relationships.
* Technology Proficiency - Microsoft Office, Xero, and relevant software.
