About The Role
Based in BYD's Melbourne office in Mulgrave and reporting to the Finance Manager, we are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our fast-paced and dynamic team.
This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with both domestic and international tax reporting requirements, as well as managing tax-related filings across BYD's global legal entities.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage tax compliance for Australia and New Zealand, including preparation of detailed working papers, tax returns, tax payment calculations, and supporting schedules to ensure timely and accurate lodgements.
* Extract, analyse, and review accounting data, and make appropriate recommendations or adjustments to support accurate tax calculations.
* Support month-end and year-end close processes, with a focus on tax provisions, reconciliations, and disclosures, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
* Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to gather required information and ensure timely completion of tax reporting deliverables.
* Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, enhancing efficiency and scalability of data and reporting.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to manage tax audits, inquiries, and rulings as required.
* Provide support to the BYD Global Tax team on various tax compliance matters related to global operations.
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience in a public accounting firm or corporate tax environment.
* Minimum 3 years' experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical role.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
* Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication skills, with the ability to present tax-related matters clearly.
* Language: Fluent in English; proficiency in Chinese is highly regarded.
Preferred Qualifications
* CPA qualification or a Master's degree in a relevant field.
* Experience with accounting systems such as SAP, Xero, or similar platforms.
* Experience within the automotive industry is highly desirable.
