The Royal Australian Mint is looking for Museum Hosts to join our busy team.
The Royal Australian Mint visitor experience (Museum, Mint Shop and Café) operates 7 days a week, 8:30am to 5:00pm on weekdays and 10:00am to 4:00pm on weekends and public holidays.
The Museum at the Mint welcomes around 350,000 visitors annually, including school groups of about 120,000.Our Museum Hosts lead public tours, supervise the museum floor, greet guests and assist with wayfinding, and deliver our education programs and school holiday activities.We offer both full time equivalent and part-time shifts.
If you prefer non-traditional schedules, we'd love to hear about your availability and interest.Note that our busiest school visit days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the semester.
This role can suit parents returning to the workforce, carers with responsibilities, or students balancing classes with work commitments.ResponsibilitiesProvide exceptional and memorable customer experiences, including greeting visitors at the Welcome Desk and guiding their journey through a busy Museum floor.Present education programs and content to audiences of varying ages, levels and abilities; tailor presentation styles to meet Australian Curriculum deliverables where required.Present or supervise school holiday and other family-focused, education-led, hands-on content.Deliver dynamic and informative tours to diverse audiences with professionalism.Learn about the Museum's history, programs, Australian culture, and financial and social history to respond to visitor questions.Assist in the broader work of the Museum Education and Visitor Services team, including delivering public programs, conducting visitor surveys, and contributing to education and web resources.Maintain the safety and security of visitors and the Museum.RequirementsRequirementA Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration for the Australian Capital Territory.How to applyPlease submit your application by 11:30pm on Sunday 5 October 2025.
