Job Title: Maintenance Engineer – Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Murray Bridge
Are you a hands-on engineer passionate about keeping roads safe and performing at their best? Our client is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their Murray Bridge team. In this role, you will provide technical and operational support to the Area Manager and field teams, ensuring road maintenance works are planned, scoped, and delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, and asset performance.
You will play a critical role in defect investigation, asset condition assessment, work programming, estimating, performance analysis, and continuous improvement across our maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop work programs and accurate technical scopes for maintenance and minor capital works.
* Conduct site inspections and recommend treatments for pavements and road assets.
* Analyse asset data and performance trends to inform maintenance strategies.
* Provide engineering support in materials selection, mix design, and construction methodologies.
* Validate defect repairs and completed work against specifications.
* Maintain accurate and timely asset data and support budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting.
* Provide technical input on subcontractor queries, claims, or variations.
* Adhere to quality management systems and quality principles
Skills & Qualifications:
* 'C' Class Driver's License.
* Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
* Certificate in Asset Management or Maintenance Planning (desirable).
* 2–3 years' experience in maintenance engineering or asset management, preferably in road maintenance or civil infrastructure.
* Experience with asset management systems and programming/scheduling tools (MS Project preferred).
* Experience scoping pavement/road defects and pricing for submissions.
* Familiarity with quality assurance, compliance processes, and performance-based maintenance contracts.
* Field experience with road pavements, drainage, and associated infrastructure.
* Exposure to GIS, asset management, or maintenance planning software.
* Strong understanding of road maintenance practices, asset lifecycle management, and pavement materials.
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project).
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, perform root cause analysis, and recommend appropriate treatments.
* Knowledge of Austroads and DIT specifications and standards (desirable)
