About the role

We are seeking applications from experienced and highly motivated male Aboriginal Health Workers to join our skilled and supportive team. Being Male is a genuine occupational qualification for this position as described under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1977 (NSW).

This role works as key member of the multi-disciplinary team to provide flexible, high quality and culturally sensitive primary health care services, including direct clinical care to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander men and their communities to achieve better health access and outcomes, while working towards meeting requirements for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner.

Aboriginal Health Workers and Practitioners are an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team, providing a crucial link between Dubbo Health Service and the community. The team is essential in establishing and building relationships between Aboriginal patients and care clinicians to achieve best patient outcomes. They deliver culturally appropriate and clinically competent health care and health education to patients and assist in providing education to staff across the Health Service to ensure culturally appropriate service delivery.

This position is operationally responsible to the Executive Team at Dubbo Health Service through the Aboriginal Health Unit Manager. You will be supported by your team, the multi-disciplinary team and the Aboriginal Health Leadership team from the strategic directorate.
