Details: Join the Suburban Land Agency's (SLA) Place Delivery Group (PDG) and use your procurement and contract expertise to help deliver great places for the Canberra community. We're a friendly, collaborative team that takes pride in doing meaningful work for a growing city.

As our Contracts Director, you'll lead the development, implementation and administration of contracts that support land development and infrastructure delivery. You'll ensure compliance with ACT Government legislation and policy, manage risk and performance, and work closely with the SLA Procurement Team to support agency‑wide procurement reform. This role is perfect for someone who loves bringing order, clarity and good judgement to complex commercial work. What You'll Do

Lead PDG's procurement function, working closely with project teams
Oversee contract performance, probity and risk
Represent PDG on evaluation panels and support industry engagement
Provide high‑level advice on procurement and contract strategies
Prepare briefs, documentation and evaluation materials
Manage PDG's contract register, variations and compliance
Mentor the Contracts Officer and build strong internal relationships
Liaise with ACT Government Solicitor and stay across legislative changes
Deliver accurate reporting to senior executives, Board and Ministers

Eligibility/Other Requirements

Highly Desirable:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, business, procurement, contract management, commerce, or a related field.
Procurement or contract management certification, such as:
Certificate IV or Diploma in Government (Procurement & Contracting)
CIPS or equivalent professional accreditation
Experience working with legal advisers (e.g. ACT Government Solicitor) on contract drafting, risk or dispute matters.
Experience in infrastructure, land development, or construction‑related procurement.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 March 2028 with the possibility of permanency.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
