Initial 6-month contract | Hybrid Working | North Sydney Location
We are seeking a Lead Application Architect to join our client on an initial 6-month contract working on a large-scale cloud modernisation (AWS).
In this role you will support a global provider of investigative analytics and intelligence software on a major digital transformation program, focused on modernising legacy systems and uplifting core industry integrity platforms.
We are seeking a candidate who can provide hands‑on technical leadership across architectural design, cloud migration strategy, application modernisation and governance.
You will be responsible for the development of an event‑driven, microservices‑based architecture using AWS native services, guiding engineering teams and ensuring all solutions align with compliance requirements within a regulated environment. This role combines deep technical capability with strong leadership and stakeholder engagement.
To be successful you must have the following skills and experience;
* Minimum 12+ years of experience as an Application Lead Architect delivering large-scale digital transformation and cloud system uplift projects
* Solid experience leading full-stack engineering teams building services, APIs, Mobile, and web applications
* Demonstrated experience designing and implementing cloud-native applications using a range of AWS services (e.g., S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS)
* Strong working knowledge of microservices architecture, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and orchestration
* Expertise in one or more core programming languages such as .netCore, C#, React JS, NodeJS, Go, or Typescript
* Proven hands‑on experience working in Agile environments (e.g., Scrum) with a strong understanding of principles and methodologies
* Proficiency in creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation with well‑defined architecture decisions and change management rigour
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder management.
Additional experience that would support your application includes;
* Prior experience working with the Australian public sector or similarly regulated environments.
* Familiarity with compliance frameworks and data sovereignty requirements relevant to Australia
* Working knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, such as Bitbucket, AWS DEVOPS Tools, Circle CI, or NewRelic
* Experience with APIs, Microsoft SQL, and SQL Stored Procedures
* Experience working with software vendors/technology providers and managing support resource scheduling
* Proficiency with tools such as the Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence) and Office 365
This role is based in North Sydney and requires a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
