Mirna Butler Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a respected automotive client in Melbourne seeking qualified and experienced Motor Mechanics / Automotive Technicians to join their high-performing team. This is an excellent long-term opportunity for tradespeople looking to build a stable career abroad in a modern, well-equipped workshop and field service environment.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, service, and repair petrol and diesel vehicles (including 4WDs and light commercial units)
Perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air-conditioning repairs
Conduct vehicle maintenance, fault-finding, and quality workmanship with minimal rework
Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
Use job management systems (e.g., AroFlo) for SWMS, checklists, timesheets, and job records
Provide accurate quotations and maintain detailed job documentation
Road test vehicles and assist with technical evaluations
Maintain a clean, safe, and professional workshop environment
Support operational efficiency and contribute to achieving budget targets
Share technical knowledge and assist team members as needed
Participate in on-call roadside assistance (approximately one weekend per month)
Adhere to all health, safety, and company policies
Requirements
Red Seal Certified Diesel or Petrol Mechanic OR Trade Qualification as a Motor Mechanic
Completed recognised apprenticeship
Minimum 10 years post-trade experience (preferred), OR minimum 12 months' experience for Automotive Technician-level applicants
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Broad automotive repair experience, Toyota and VW experience advantageous
Skilled in 4WD servicing, diagnostics, electrical systems, and air-conditioning
Valid driver's licence
Ability to work efficiently, maintain accurate records, and deliver excellent customer service
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Willingness to relocate to Australia and commit to a long-term role

Post-trade qualifications
Experience with modern diagnostic tools and workshop systems
Remuneration and Benefits
Salary: AUD $75,000 – $85,000 per annum
12% superannuation (employer retirement contribution)
Overtime opportunities available
