Job Description
Key Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure following best-practice architecture and security frameworks.
* Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CodePipeline, or Jenkins.
* Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
* Automate operational processes, environment provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring.
* Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and performance through proactive optimisation and incident response.
* Collaborate with application teams, data teams, and security to support delivery across multiple initiatives.
* Maintain and improve cloud governance, identity/access controls, and compliance policies.
* Support containerised workload deployments using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
* Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, deployment, and runtime issues.
* Provide expert advice on cloud engineering, DevOps practices, and emerging technology improvements.
The Successful Applicant
Essential Skills & Experience
* 10+ years experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Platform Engineering roles.
* Extensive hands on AWS experience, including services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudFront, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, and Route53.
* Deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
* Proven experience building robust CI/CD pipelines and release automation workflows.
* Strong scripting capability in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
* Experience operating production workloads in containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
* Strong understanding of networking, including VPC design, routing, security groups, load balancers, and DNS.
* Demonstrated ability to design for resilience, scalability, monitoring, logging, and alerts.
* Practical experience with DevSecOps practices, including AWS security, threat mitigation, and vulnerability management.
* Experience working within government environments or highly regulated sectors (desirable).
