About Solar Choice

Solar Choice is a clean energy comparison platform helping Australian households make confident decisions about solar, batteries, EV charging, hot water, heating and cooling, and broader home energy upgrades.

Founded in 2008, Solar Choice has built a trusted national presence by making complex energy decisions easier to understand. We combine plain‐English education, market insight and a network of vetted installers to help households cut through confusion and take practical next steps. Over the past 18 years, we have served over 400,000 homeowners with an online quote comparison, and our website is used by over 1 million people each year. The Solar Choice Platform is supported by a network of over 400 of Australia's best electrical contractors and our database of accurate quote and price data.

We're now delivering a major consumer education campaign focused on household energy upgrades, including virtual power plants, home energy technology installation and the transition away from gas. This campaign will include articles, videos and practical consumer resources designed to help Australians better understand their options and act with confidence.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Content Specialist to join Solar Choice and support the delivery of a funded national consumer education campaign.

This role will help produce a series of consumer‐friendly articles and companion videos across key home energy topics. The campaign will cover areas such as virtual power plants, choosing installers, understanding batteries, getting off gas, home electrification and avoiding common pitfalls when upgrading household energy systems. You'll work with Solar Choice's marketing leadership, content team, subject matter experts and video production partners to turn complex topics into clear, engaging and practical content for everyday Australians.

This role also has the opportunity for front‐of‐camera presentation representing Solar Choice, presenting a great opportunity for someone who wants to build their public profile in clean energy, consumer education or sustainability communications.

This is a 6‐month fixed‐term role with an option to convert to a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for preparing and writing content over a 6‐month consumer education campaign that includes monthly written article and video content deliverables.

* Research and draft consumer education articles on solar, batteries, virtual power plants, home electrification, installer selection and related household energy topics.
* Write scripts and talking points for short educational videos that complement each article.
* Help develop clear storylines, hooks and practical takeaways for video content.
* Prepare b‐roll briefs, visual prompts and supporting content notes for the video production team.
* Optional participation in on‐camera video content.

About You

First and foremost, you're a strong writer who knows how to make complicated topics feel simple. With a passion for renewable energy and skillset in researching complex topics, you have the ability to produce compelling educational content.

An ideal role for someone in their early career but who can demonstrate a portfolio of written content, with an exciting opportunity for personal exposure alongside the Solar Choice and Flow Power brand for those who want to be in front of camera in video productions.

Skills and Experience

* Tertiary qualification in journalism, communications, marketing, media, content production, sustainability, energy, public policy or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
* Experience and demonstrable portfolio in online written content (e.g., blogs, articles, published content), video scripting or consumer education will be highly regarded.
* Strong writing and storytelling ability, and ability to simplify complex or technical topics into educational content.
* Ability to identify useful visual examples, b‐roll and supporting content.
* Ability to work to fixed deadlines and project deliverables.
* Strong passion and interest in the renewable energy transition. Knowledge of VPPs, electrification and home energy technologies will be advantageous.
* On‐camera presence, communication and presentation skills – for those who intend to participate in that aspect of the role.
