This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a substantive position as an Anaesthetist in a freshly redeveloped hospital in New South Wales.
The Role and Hospital
You will provide contemporary comprehensive specialist services including elective surgery, emergency cases, pre‐anaesthetic assessment clinic, and acute pain management. You will be responsible for training clinicians and junior staff across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice, and will be involved in the after‐hours on‐call roster.
The hospital has 120 acute medical, surgical, intensive care and psychiatric beds, following a $165 million redevelopment project delivering a new four‐storey building housing a new emergency department, intensive care unit, medical imaging department, and modern digital theatres.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College for Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABA certified) or New Zealand.
The Medical Board of Australia implemented a new expedited pathway to specialist registration in December 2024, eliminating the need for a specialist assessment with a specialist medical college for those with an accepted qualification in Anaesthetics. The standard Specialist Pathway or the Pathway to Fellowship is still available to those who aren't eligible for the Expedited specialist pathway. The accepted qualifications are:
* Fellowship of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (FCAI), together with a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST) from Ireland, or
* Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from the United Kingdom.
