Technical Lead, Software Engineering (Edge Platform)
We are currently looking for a full-time Technical Lead, Software Engineering (Edge Platform) to join our R&D team in Brisbane, Australia.
The technical lead will work in a collaborative, Agile environment leading the design implementation of innovative applications, taking advantage of cutting-edge technologies in the areas of edge computing and IIoT.
Key Responsibilities:
* Development
o Design, architect, and implement edge computing services
o Lead development teams on technical design and implementation, as well as on developing test scenarios and test cases.
o Analyze code and application execution for optimization and performance tuning.
* Technical Leadership
o Be relentless in pursuit of continuous improvement
o Promote a culture of quality within the development team
o Mentor others in the team
o Work with the Product Owner to help set direction for the team
o Collaborate with hardware specialists, software architects, DevOps, and other teams to achieve project goals
o Interface with product management/owners and developers to define and improve requirements and automated and manual test cases.
* Experience & Knowledge:
o A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
o Minimum 5+ years of practical, full-time experience developing and maintaining edge/embedded software on Linux or other Unix-like OS.
o Experience mentoring and leading other engineers
o Experience with Yocto and AWS IoT Core would be beneficial
o Strong C++ background and any experience with Python and/or Rust beneficial
o Experience developing microservices using asynchronous messaging technologies such as ZeroMQ, ActiveMQ, MQTT etc.
o You consider yourself an authority on modern agile development best practices.
o Experience with implementing, using and/or leading:
+ Automated testing/simulation
+ TDD, ATDD, BDD
+ Data modelling skills, good understanding of relational and non-relational databases: SQLite, PostgreSQL, InfluxDB or other TSDB beneficial
+ Pipelines and a CI/CD mindset
+ A preference for clarity and simplicity over unnecessary complexity
+ Any exposure to technologies such as CAN, J1939, CANopen, GNSS would be an asset
