It supports our advisory services across regions in North, West, and South-East Australia, aiming to strengthen existing client relationships, develop new ones, and generate new business opportunities.Working with our Director, Strategic Environment and Planning, and our Associate Directors, Environment and Planning, the Town Planner (Environment and Planning Lead) will help expand our environmental and planning capabilities, enhancing our project planning and delivery services within Sequana.We seek a problem solver who values reimagining possibilities for clients and stakeholders. Most importantly, you act with integrity and genuinely care about your colleagues.What you doCollaborate with senior management to establish and implement a strategic plan for the Strategic Environment and Planning team.Support internal Water and Energy consultancy teams on planning and environmental management matters.Lead and support planning and environmental projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.Work with multidisciplinary teams to integrate planning and environmental considerations into project design, execution, and monitoring.Stay informed about local, regional, and national planning and environmental regulations to ensure compliance.Provide technical planning and environmental advice to internal and external stakeholders.Liaise with statutory authorities for permits and approvals related to planning and environmental work.Manage contracts related to planning and environmental management.Support work programs to meet client expectations regarding timelines, costs, and specifications.Work within a diverse and inclusive team responsible for project delivery and reporting.Develop relationships with key clients and mentor junior staff to build capability across the business.Who you arePossess tertiary or relevant qualifications.Have strong experience in Environmental Impact Assessment and statutory planning processes.Bring 5-8 years of industry experience in planning and environmental practice, capable of managing diverse functions and focusing on critical issues.Have proven knowledge of the Water, Energy, and Environment sectors.Possess strong commercial acumen, including contractual management, tenders, bids, legal, and procurement activities.Have project management experience overseeing planning, execution, and monitoring of projects.Can collaborate effectively with diverse groups, including government agencies, community representatives, and industry professionals.Exhibit excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal skills, and strong presentation and report writing abilities.Possess budgeting skills and the ability to perform under pressure while delivering high-quality outcomes.Preferably have consultancy and/or public sector experience.Maintain a high level of business and personal ethics.
