**About the Role**

Reporting to the Virtual Production Coordinator, the Virtual Production Operator supports students in close consultation with key academic staff within the Film and Television Department and other faculty departments. To ensure that Projects are delivered effectively and to a high standard, whilst ensuring Health and Safety policies and processes are maintained.

Reporting to the Recording And Visual Technologies Manager, the Virtual Production Coordinator will have a high degree of autonomy as part of the Film and TV Programmes and Operations Team.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Facilitate the use of LED Volume and Motion Capture studio technologies for teaching and learning, filmmaking, research visualisation, studio demonstrations, and events. Ensure studio adaptability for different projects.
- Utilise and Integrate Real-Time Technologies: Leverage engines like Unreal and Pixera in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure the integration and delivery of performant LED Volume/Virtual Production content.
- Facilitate the integration of key studio technologies, including camera tracking, motion capture, FIZ, nDisplay, distributed render hardware, LED processors, Genlock, DMX lighting, real-time compositing, and media servers, and regularly set up and operate these technologies for stakeholders.
- Version Control: Manage the studio's version control systems, including Perforce Helix.
- Maintain studio technologies: perform regular maintenance on studio technologies, including substituting studio hardware when failures occur. Provide on-set support for studio hardware, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues as they occur. E.g. recover from LED Panel failure, display processor issues, render node failure, etc.

**Who we are looking for**
We are looking for a skilled professional ready to excel in a dynamic educational environment. You will bring strong communication skills, the ability to manage workflows efficiently, and a collaborative mindset to thrive as part of a larger team. In this role, you'll build and maintain effective relationships across the university and with external research and program partners. Proficiency in multimedia software, visual design, and working with diverse media formats is essential, along with a willingness to adapt and contribute to innovative projects.

You will also have:

- Completion of an Animation, or Games, or Interactive Media, or Film related degree (or equivalent) with significant relevant industry experience in Animation, Computer Science, or a related field. Certification or specialized training in virtual production techniques and Unreal Engine is highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong technical background in real-time 3D tools and equipment, including motion capture systems, green screen setups, and real-time rendering technologies.
- Experience using and scripting for DCC editors and/or 3D tools.
- Demonstrated professional organisational and administrative skills with the ability to plan, co-ordinate and carry out tasks and projects through to completion to meet deadlines and balance competing demands.
- Relevant software skills, including a sound knowledge of packages that include Unreal Engine, Avid media composer, DaVinci Resolve, Unity3D.

**The Team - Programs and Operations**
The Programs and Operations (P&O) team within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music is a dynamic work area, delivering services, support and technical expertise to academics, students, professional staff and stakeholders. The team operates predominantly at the Southbank Campus within Melbourne's Arts Precinct, as well as the University's Parkville Campus.

The team oversees program planning, delivery, and operational functions across the following areas: production and technical; event coordination; film and recording studios; asset, equipment and resource management; facilities maintenance and support; capital works and building projects; Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), technical infrastructure; management of workshops, performance spaces, studios and galleries.
