We’re on the lookout for a skilled and creative Head Chef to lead our kitchen at Il Locale Osteria. If you’re passionate about Italian-inspired cuisine, thrive in fast-paced environments, and want to make your mark in a restaurant with real character, this is your chance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Development & Cost Control: Create and refine seasonal menus, balancing customer tastes, dietary needs, and cost efficiency. Manage food and labour budgets to ensure profitability.
- Ordering & Stock Management: Handle supplier orders, maintain accurate stock levels, and minimise waste by ensuring all produce is fresh and properly managed.
- Food Standards: Guarantee that every plate leaving the pass is up to the highest standards of flavour, presentation, and consistency.
- Collaboration: Work alongside the management team to tackle operational challenges, respond to customer feedback, and maintain smooth service.
- Leadership & Training: Guide and mentor the kitchen team, instilling strong techniques and a positive, professional culture.
- Hands-On Cooking: Lead from the front during service, especially in busy hours, while keeping execution sharp and efficient.
- Hygiene & Safety: Maintain a safe, clean kitchen environment and ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Team Building: Assist with recruitment and onboarding of staff, ensuring high performance and cohesion across the kitchen team.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or similar.
- At least 2 years’ experience as a chef in a high-volume, quality-focused venue.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen safety, hygiene practices, and a variety of cooking techniques.
