About the Role
The Kinship Case Manager supports Aboriginal children and young people who are unable to live safely with their parents to remain connected to their family, kinship, and community networks.
Operating within Rumbalara Engagement and Family Services (REFS) – Case Contracting Services, this role manages Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) contracted kinship cases. The focus is on supporting culturally safe transitions, promoting placement stability, and achieving positive outcomes that meet contracted kinship targets, while upholding Aboriginal self-determination and community authority.
Grounded in Aboriginal ways of working, the role recognises that strong culture, family connection, and community are central to the safety, wellbeing, and identity of Aboriginal children. The Kinship Case Manager works in partnership with children, families, kinship carers, community, and DFFH to promote safe, stable, and culturally strong care arrangements.
About You - Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
Qualifications and Registrations
* Cert IV or Diploma in Community Services or related fields or
* A willingness to work towards relevant qualifications (with support from the organisation) over time.

Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture, kinship systems, family structures, and community responsibilities.
Experience working with Aboriginal children, young people, and families, particularly within kinship care or family support settings.
Ability to work in a culturally safe, respectful, and family-led manner.
Knowledge of child development and trauma-informed, healing-informed, and strengths-based practice.
Capacity to manage contracted casework, including planning, documentation, reporting, and meeting contractual requirements.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, carers, community members, and government stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and organisational frameworks.

Competitive pay and conditions based on the SCHADS Award – Level 4 Pay Point 1 based on experience and qualifications.
Salary packaging of $15,900 available for Part- or Full-time employees.
