Project Overview

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia, located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non‑Process Infrastructure for Harmony, a world‑class gold and copper mining and development company.
Job Summary
In this role, you will collaborate to plan, develop, coordinate, and review project civil/structural design work. Responsibilities include producing 3D civil models and drawings, facilitating discussions, communicating complex technical issues, and preparing civil/structural design estimates and work plans. Your recommendations will ensure designs and work plans align with project scope, schedule, budget, regulations, and standards.
Major Responsibilities
* Plan, develop, coordinate, and review design work within a small‑size civil/structural design group for medium‑size projects or global business unit assignments.
* Produce 3D models, drawings, and documentation in accordance with established design scope, including earthwork, drainage, trenching, road design, and foundations.
* Coordinate and interface as directed with the day‑to‑day technical work of civil/structural engineers, scientists, specialists, designers, and drafters.
* Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.
* Prepare or oversee the preparation of civil/structural design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget; manage implementation and performance accordingly.
* Coordinate with client representatives to obtain approval on phases of work.
* Review key civil/structural engineering drawings, calculations, and bid summaries.
* Mentor civil/structural designers and drafters by providing appropriate on‑the‑job training for their professional development.
* Ensure civil/structural systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Experienced in producing civil 3D models, designs, and drawings for mining and metals projects and associated civil systems/structures.
* Experienced with Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team under the direction of the Civil EGS (Engineering Group Supervisor).
