Job Opportunity: Lead Kitchen Professional
The role involves preparing high-quality meals using fresh ingredients, managing daily kitchen operations, and following strict food safety and hygiene rules. The lead kitchen professional will help plan menus, order supplies, and support junior kitchen staff. Experience in a similar role and relevant qualifications are preferred.
Responsibilities:
1. Plan menus, estimate food and labour costs, and order food supplies.
2. Monitor the quality of dishes during preparation and presentation.
3. Discuss food preparation and service with managers, dietitians, and staff.
4. Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise on proper procedures.
5. Prepare and cook meals to meet quality and consistency standards.
6. Enforce hygiene, food safety, and sanitation regulations in the kitchen.
7. Select, train, and supervise kitchen staff as needed.
8. Freeze, store, and preserve food items according to best practices.
Requirements:
1. A minimum certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or relevant work experience.
2. A minimum 1 year of experience working as a chef in a commercial setting.
3. In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients and kitchen operation.
