- Provide clinical services for the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine.**Join our team as a Respiratory and Sleep Physician at Launceston General Hospital!**
Launceston General Hospital have an exciting opportunity for a Respiratory and Sleep Physician to join the dynamic and expanding team. The Launceston General Hospital is a regional centre providing in and outpatient care for respiratory and sleep patients. The area has a high prevalence of lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary infections, tuberculosis, pulmonary fibrosis and sleep disorders. The hospital has an intensive care unit, acute medical unit, provides ward based non-invasive ventilation, bronchoscopy including endobronchial ultrasound and pleural procedures. The respiratory unit provides an inpatient, outpatient and procedural service to the hospital and is supported by a registrar and resident medical officer, respiratory and sleep CNC and allied health staff (including a pulmonary rehabilitation program). The respiratory unit receives referrals from the Mersey and North West Regional Hospital (NW Tasmania). The hospital has an affiliation with the University of Tasmania and medical students are embraced within the work of the Respiratory Unit.
The successful applicant will be required to provide clinical services for the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. They would need to demonstrate skills and experience in inpatient and outpatient care, bronchoscopy (preferably including linear and radial endobronchial ultrasound and more advanced procedures), preferably skilled in pleural ultrasound and pleural procedures. The applicant will be expected to demonstrate skills in quality assurance activities, educational meetings, and working well within and leading multidisciplinary meetings. They would be expected to participate in administrative duties and have oversight of discharge summaries. They would need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and communication working with medical staff in and outside respiratory medicine, nursing, allied health staff, pharmacy and ability supervise and support junior registrars and resident medical officers.
