OzArk Environment & Heritage is a medium-sized cultural heritage management and ecology company based in NSW.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for the roles of:

·
Archaeologist

·
Senior Archaeologist

The positions are challenging and rewarding; well-suited for an individual who is a motivated self-starter possessing a proactive approach to teamwork.

While being based in Dubbo would be a preference, OzArk supports a distributed teamwork model that allows working from a place that makes most sense for team members and OzArk, although this must be in NSW or nearby areas given the areas in which we work.

OzArk archaeologists are multi-disciplinary experts. All our archaeologists have experience in both Aboriginal and historic heritage, and tasks involve fieldwork assessment, GIS mapping and data modelling; artefact analysis; project management; survey & excavation.

Core tasks will include:

· Historic and Aboriginal heritage field assessments

· Research and report writing

· Community consultation

· Development of heritage impact assessments including the formulation and implementation of management strategies

· Project management

· Client communication.

To apply, you must have:

* A degree in Archaeology (or related discipline)
* Practical experience in archaeological fieldwork and presentation of findings (report writing)
* Knowledge and experience in the application of NSW heritage legislation, such as the
National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974
and the
Heritage Act 1977
and other government policies/guidelines
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* A current New South Wales Driver's License (manual license) and able to drive for long distances
* Be prepared to spend time in the field, sometimes in remote locations
* Be prepared to work flexible hours, especially for field surveys/excavations.

Desirable competencies:

* 5 year's experience working in archaeology/heritage
* Experience in historic heritage assessment, legislation, and reporting
* Experience in Aboriginal cultural heritage assessment, legislation, and reporting
* Demonstrated ability in field survey design and execution, test and salvage excavations
* Preparation of heritage assessment and impact reports, Conservation Management Plans (CMPs), Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs), archaeological excavation and salvage reports
* Ability to manage projects including scheduling, prioritising, and delivering on-time and on-budget
* Experience in all standard Microsoft Office software (word, outlook, excel) and industry specific programs including GIS software.
* Be eligible for membership of a relevant professional associations
* 4WD driving skills
* First Aid certification.
