Volunteer duties include reading stories, playing games, helping with craft activities and engaging children with our radio service, all aimed at providing comfort and distraction for children in the hospital.
On the wards, volunteers work with children on interactive activities and radio involvement, while also operating the in-house station at PMH Hospital.
Programs are presented by volunteers and feature contributions from children.
The broadcasts are played on ward televisions, allowing song requests, storytelling and competitions.
Children can respond instantly using a telephone next to their beds, hearing their voices over the radio.
Satellite hospitals lack a dedicated station, but playrooms are set up in various themes for volunteers and children to use, and children can participate by calling for requests and entering competitions.
Radio Lollipop operates solely to provide laughter and play for sick children.
Volunteers do not offer medical advice and must never obstruct medical staff.
