This Federal Government Agency is seeking an APS6 Research Project Officer to join the team until June 2026. You'll be joining a supportive Federal Government team that delivers important communication and behavioural research to guide policy and public campaigns. The environment is collaborative, inclusive and fast‑paced, with plenty of variety in the work you'll do.
Your new role
In this role, you'll manage a mix of communication and behavioural research projects while supporting the Director of the MRU. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders and external research providers to ensure high‑quality insights are delivered on time.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing communication and behavioural research projects
* Liaising with departmental clients and external research agencies
* Procuring research services in line with government requirements
* Overseeing research delivered by consultants (exploratory studies, concept testing, evaluations)
* Developing, conducting and analysing online surveys
* Preparing clear and engaging reports, presentations and infographics
* Providing high‑level management support to the Director, MRU
* Assisting with government briefs and ministerial correspondence
* Completing other tasks as required
What you'll need to succeed
* Experience in research, behavioural insights, communications or project management
* Strong stakeholder management skills
* Ability to manage external suppliers and juggle multiple projects
* Excellent written skills for reports and briefings
* Confidence working with surveys, data and research processes
* Organised, proactive and able to work independently
* Must be an Australian Citizen.
