**About the role - Part Time Contract until 06/26: Monday and Thursday 8:30-16:30**
The Tumbelin Farm Counsellor plays a crucial role in supporting young people by engaging with them and their circle of support from the point of referral. They facilitate family group conferencing, assist in decision-making, and help develop a community re-engagement plan. The Counsellor works closely with family members, significant others, and service providers to ensure effective coordination throughout the young person's journey in residential rehabilitation. They provide drug and alcohol counselling, refer to additional support when needed, and maintain regular communication between the young person and their support network.
- Key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:_
- Provide specialised 1:1 counselling session with young people during residential rehabilitation using a motivational interviewing framework
- Record, enter and review data and case notes, regular feed these back to the Tumbelin Farm team.
- Establish effective relationships with stakeholders engaged in a young person's Community of Support e.g. student well being workers, General Practitioners, Mental Health Service providers, Youth Justice Services and others, particularly during initial referral and post-residential community re-engagement
- Actively participate in regular supervision, and reviews of individual and team practice and performance.
**About you**:
The ideal Tumbelin Farm Counsellor is compassionate, empathetic, and skilled in building trust with young people and their support networks. They possess strong interpersonal skills and are experienced in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and conflict resolution. With a deep understanding of addiction and dual diagnosis, they are adaptable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- You will also have the following skills and experience:_
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology and or Counselling
- Certificate IV in Alcohol or other drugs (or willingness to work towards this or an equivalent qualification)
- Counselling experience - Minimum of 3 years
- Addiction understanding
- Trauma informed practice
- Evidence of well-developed interpersonal skills both verbal and written

- You will be required to have, or be willing to obtain:_
- A current and valid DHS: Child-Related Employment Screening/WWCC
- National Police Clearance as per the Background Screening Check Policy
- Training - Child Safe Environments
- Ability to work outside normal office hours
- Ability and willingness to travel within South Australia as required
- A valid full South Australian drivers' license (C Class)
