Job Description
The position involves working with industry, government, and NGO stakeholders to address operational challenges and identify opportunities to develop the commercial seafood industry in Western Australia. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for unifying the voice of the industry and addressing resource access issues. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the commercial fishing industry.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with sector bodies and key stakeholders to address significant industry issues.
* Basing decisions on sound science and practical, evidence-based research.
* Working with industry, government, and NGO stakeholders to address operational challenges and identify opportunities to develop the commercial seafood industry in WA.
* Identify and prioritize issues impacting the sector, seeking to unify the voice of the industry and working with the sector to address resource access issues.
* Improve resource access and security for commercial fishers.
* Scope up industry projects that will address knowledge gaps and advance the viability of the commercial fishing industry.
* Prepare industry submissions on matters requiring industry consultation and develop briefs, reports, submissions, and presentations that drive our mission forward.
* Develop robust professional relationships with all stakeholders and members to assist in achieving positive outcomes for the WA fishing industry.
* Demonstrate expertise in fisheries management and the commercial fishing industry.
* Analyze complex policy issues, provide strategic recommendations, and develop and implement strategic policy.
* Build strong relationships with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and other relevant parties.
* Communicate information clearly through excellent written and verbal skills.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
