Medical Secretary - Neurosurgery

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Neuro-Oncology Department for a motivated individual to join our very busy and dedicated admin team.
You will provide secretarial and administrative support to our clinical team and offer a professional service to our patients.
You will be expected to work efficiently, with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
You will have the ability to use your initiative and manage, prioritise and complete your workload while working under pressure.
You will work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), liaising with professionals within CUH and across the region.
The role is integral to ensuring the safe and effective delivery of patient services, supporting communication, data management, and coordination across the MDT.
Home working would be available once the training period has been completed.
Main duties of the job
To provide a comprehensive Medical Secretary and PA service to Consultants within the speciality, including coordinating meetings, optimising clinic time, ensuring compliance with CCG requirements, producing clinic letters, other documents and dealing with patient and GP queries and concerns in a sympathetic and constructive manner.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Educated to A Level or Level 3 Business Admin / IT qualification or equivalent experience, including:
English GCSE pass at Grade 4 or above
Maths GCSE pass at Grade 4 or above
Touch typing certificate or equivalent experience
Knowledge of letter and document layout principles
Good grammar, spelling and punctuation usage
Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent
Experience
Experience of administrative work
Prioritising, planning and organising own tasks
Working within guidelines and developing administrative processes
Customer service and dealing with enquiries in difficult situations
Data entry and producing reports
Experience of IT packages – Microsoft Office
Secretarial and/or administrative including diary management, co-ordinating and arranging meetings, minute taking and developing templates
