We are seeking a Work, Health and Safety (WHS) and Injury Management Specialist to lead the delivery of the WHS and Injury Management framework for NSW whilst ensuring consistency with the National strategy.
What You'll Do
The preferred applicant will be responsible for:
* Ensuring the WHS processes, policies, and procedures are updated and satisfy NSW legislative requirements.
* Managing workplace injury claims and ensuring compliance with SafeWork NSW and SIRA NSW.
* Developing and driving tailored RTW plans with employees, and internal and external stakeholders.
* Management of RTW in conjunction with Human Resources.
* Developing and reviewing documents outlining Clinical Labs policies and procedures and review the suitability of the processes by identifying potential improvement opportunities.
* Implementing a WHS Management System that incorporates processes that aim to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
* Educating and coaching line management to enable them to manage WHS issues in their areas.
* Working alongside the NSW Management Team to increase awareness of WHS issues, emphasising their accountability for creating a safe workplace.
* Seeking continuous improvement in documented systems covering WHS processes, policies, and procedures.
* Providing advice and supporting internal stakeholders in managing incidents and injuries.
* Management of notices issued by SafeWork NSW or Provisional Improvement Notices issued by Health and Safety Representatives.
* Conducting risk assessments and specific safety audits such as hazard audits.
* Responding in a timely manner to remedy WHS issues brought to their attention and within their scope of authority and delegation.
About You
* Relevant qualifications in WHS/Occupational Rehabilitation or related field - highly desirable.
* Return to Work Coordinator Certification (SafeWork NSW Approved) – mandatory.
* Proven experience in an Injury Management/RTW role.
* Advanced knowledge of WHS legislative requirements and associated acts.
* Strong knowledge of statutory authorities and safety management systems.
* Experience in health services environment advantageous.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and demonstrated initiative while working with minimal supervision.
