Casual Vessel Traffic Service Operator
The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads is seeking a Casual Vessel Traffic Service Operator to fill a critical role in the region. As a key member of the team, you will provide real-time monitoring and information services to vessels, ensuring safe and efficient movement of shipping.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering high-quality vessel traffic services for designated areas across the state
* Coordinating and providing timely alerting services in response to marine incidents and emergencies
* Performing first contact functions as per Port Emergency Procedures and the National Plan for Maritime Environmental Emergencies
* Providing accurate and timely information and advice to the maritime industry on maritime matters and issues
* Gathering and distributing relevant data for vessel traffic management purposes
* Operating and contributing to the review of all systems and equipment necessary for safe and efficient shipping operations
* Conducting ship scheduling functions for regional ports and harbors
* Continuously improving safe management practices for vessel traffic in Queensland waters
* Performing administrative tasks and duties requested by the Manager (Vessel Traffic Services)
* Participating in personal performance planning and appraisal, training and development opportunities, and risk management programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
This is an exciting casual opportunity with applications remaining current for 12 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining effective relationships with maritime industry stakeholders and contributing to a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
