About The Role
This position provides operational support in the provision of pharmacy services under the supervision of pharmacists to clients at West Moreton Health, including Ipswich Hospital, The Park Centre for Mental Health, Ripley Hospital, and Prison and Youth Detention Health Service. These duties ensure that pharmacy services are safe, effective, economical, timely and of a high standard.
The Key Responsibilities Of The Role Include
- Prepare, dispense and supply medicines from a prescription under the supervision of a pharmacist for checking and authorisation by a pharmacist.
- Maintain and review stock levels of scheduled and unscheduled medicines and consumables, including monitoring batch numbers, expiry dates and stock rotation. This includes use of automated medication distribution systems where applicable.
- Undertake environmental and equipment monitoring and recording.
About You
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Ability to interpret prescriptions to facilitate dispensing processes.
- Knowledge of access and funding schemes, including the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Special Access Scheme.
- High level interpersonal, organisational and communication skills to work effectively in a team setting.
- Ability to achieve competence in the use of relevant technology used in the provision of pharmacy services.
- Knowledge of relevant medicines-related terminology.
Mandatory Requirements
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16.
- Completion of an approved Certificate III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support (HLT37115) or higher/equivalent certificate relevant to hospital pharmacy (including the Maintain Pharmaceutical Imprest Stock Module HTLPA001), or completion of a Certificate III in Community Pharmacy (SIR30116) or higher/equivalent plus the Module HTLPA001.
