Position Summary
Shift Test Engineer – Stirling, Western Australia or Canberra, ACT.
HII's Mission Technologies division invites you to contribute to advanced national defense solutions as a Shift Test Engineer in a nuclear facility. You will conduct, oversee, and analyze testing operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and system integrity during shift operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct and oversee tests related to nuclear systems, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
* Diagnose and resolve technical issues in coordination with engineering and operations teams.
* Maintain adherence to all nuclear safety protocols and environmental regulations.
* Evaluate test results, document findings, and provide technical recommendations for process improvements.
* Oversee the performance of testing equipment and instrumentation, ensuring proper functionality.
* Work closely with engineering teams, operators, and regulatory personnel to ensure smooth testing operations.
* Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation of testing procedures and results.
* Assist in training new engineers and technicians on testing protocols and safety standards.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or 6 years with a high‑school diploma, or a bachelor's/ master's degree in a related field.
* 2+ years of experience in testing, troubleshooting, or commissioning within a nuclear facility or a highly regulated industry.
* Knowledge of nuclear power systems, test engineering principles, and safety protocols.
* Proficiency in data acquisition, instrumentation, and control systems.
* Ability to analyze and interpret complex technical data.
* Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Effective communication and ability to work in high‑pressure environments.
* Team orientation with strong collaboration skills.
* Master's degree in relevant fields (preferred).
* Relevant nuclear industry certifications (e.g., NQA‑1, NRC qualifications).
* Experience with nuclear reactors, radiation monitoring systems, fluid dynamics, and thermal hydraulics.
