Hunter New England Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Consultant – Safety & Quality to lead the Applied Safety and Quality Program (ApSQP) and champion capability development across the district.
About the Role
In this influential position, you will design, deliver, and enhance education programs that build capability in patient safety, quality improvement, and improvement science. You will support the implementation of the Safety & Quality Essentials Pathway and play a key role in developing clinicians as leaders in safe and reliable care.
Working closely with Clinical Governance teams, ApSQP Faculty, and the Clinical Excellence Commission, you will shape development pathways, guide participants, evaluate program outcomes, and ensure ongoing program excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of training programs and learning pathways in patient safety and improvement science.
Provide mentorship, coaching, and facilitation to ApSQP participants, alumni, and faculty.
Implement and evaluate the Safety & Quality Essentials Pathway across multiple learning levels and delivery modes (face-to-face, virtual, eLearning, webinars, micro-learning).
Coordinate the annual recruitment and selection process for the ApSQP.
Promote the ApSQP and Safety & Quality Development Pathway across the district.
Prepare annual program evaluations and reporting for senior committees.
Deliver coaching and 360 Profile De-briefs to develop clinician leadership and improvement capability.
Act as a specialist advisor on clinical governance education, capability building, and improvement initiatives.
About You
You are a confident educator and facilitator with a passion for continuous improvement in healthcare. You thrive in dynamic environments, can balance competing priorities, and excel in engaging with diverse stakeholders.
You Will Bring
Tertiary qualifications in a health-related field.
Extensive experience designing, delivering, and evaluating education frameworks or training programs in complex healthcare settings.
Strong knowledge of patient safety principles and improvement science methodologies.
Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and experience delivering education across multiple formats.
High-level communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical, writing, and problem-solving capability.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage programs within tight timeframes.
A current driver's licence and willingness to travel across the district, including overnight stays.
Willingness to complete accreditation for 360 Profile Feedback De-briefing and AIM programs.
