About the role
The Event Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a diverse range of Smart Energy Council events. This portfolio includes national single-day state events, the Smart Installer Roadshows, webinars, and various advocacy-focused gatherings. The role requires seamless internal coordination across the Marcomms, Sales, and Advocacy teams. Externally, you will manage a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including speakers, partners, exhibitors, venues, and vendors.
The successful candidate can be based anywhere in Australia with work from home and flexible arrangements a possibility. Please note that regular domestic travel will be required to manage on-site event execution across various states.
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning and Coordination
* Develop detailed event plans, including timelines, budgets, and logistics.
* Coordinate with the Advocacy team to align event delivery with organisational objectives.
* Collaborate with the Sales team to update prospectuses and sponsorship opportunities, ensuring all partner entitlements are delivered.
* Manage event logistics, including accommodations, catering, and audiovisual requirements.
Event Execution
* Oversee event setup, execution, and teardown, ensuring all elements run smoothly on-site.
* Manage event collateral, holding slides, and on-site printing requirements.
* Act as the primary problem-solver during live events to ensure a positive experience for all attendees.
* Lead on-site venue staff and vendors to ensure seamless operations.
Program and Content Support * Provide the structural scaffold for event programs and support the Advocacy/Program Manager in content creation.
* Manage the speaker and chair invitation process, building professional relationships with key industry figures.
* Track speaker attendance and handle onboarding/administrative tasks to ensure all presenters are fully prepared.
* Coordinate with sponsors on hosted webinars to develop programs and secure session chairs.
Client and Stakeholder Management
* Serve as the main point of contact for sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, and chairs.
* Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders and proactively address concerns.
* Ensure high stakeholder satisfaction by delivering quality events that exceed expectations.
Marketing and Promotion Support
* Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure events are promoted effectively across all channels.
* Facilitate the development of promotional materials, including digital invitations, programs, and event signage.
About You
Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, or a related field.
* Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in Event Management or a related field.
* Project Management: Highly organized with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to multitask under pressure.
* Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and professional personal presentation.
* Mindset: Enthusiastic, proactive, and able to work both independently and as a collaborative team player.
* Tech Savvy: Strong IT skills, including proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office.
