The role of Senior Financial Accountant has been created to join the team in Melbourne on a 6-month contract.
The Role
Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Financial Accountant is accountable for overseeing and executing financial accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and optimal performance. This role is responsible for providing strategic financial insights, managing payroll, accounts payable/receivable, general accounts, wholesale and network settlements, revenue and cost of supplies assurance, and ensuring the integrity and timeliness of financial and industry reporting.
The Senior Financial Accountant will work closely with all departments, including Commercial, Marketing, Operations, IT, and Compliance, to align financial strategies with operational goals, contributing to the overall sustainability and growth of the organisation.
The Requirements
To be considered for this role you will have a degree in accounting, finance or related field, as well as a strong background in financial accounting, with at least 3-5 years of operational experience in an electricity retailer or the energy sector and knowledge of specific regulatory requirements.
You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to contribute to and execute financial strategies that align with business objectives, provide strategic insights and recommendations based on financial data. It is essential to demonstrate a high level of precision and attention to detail, take initiative, make independent decisions and formulate policies, procsesses, and procedures to obtain best performance and results.
