Lecturer – Computer Science Courses
Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging, subject‐relevant lectures and practical workshops that inspire students and equip them with cutting‐edge skills.
* Provide personalised academic support, mentoring and guidance to local and international students through their projects, giving constructive feedback to foster innovation and technical proficiency.
* Contribute to the design and development of accredited higher‐education curriculum, ensuring it meets accredited standards and is attuned to industry trends, collaborating with industry professionals to integrate emerging technologies and techniques into course content.
* Actively promote SAE's student and staff achievements within the professional community to strengthen the institute's profile, engaging with the wider industry to maintain SAE's strong connection to current practices and opportunities.
* Contribute to academic research and industry engagement, leveraging connections within the technology sector to enrich the learning experience and promote student opportunities.
Qualifications
* A postgraduate qualification, preferably at Master's level (or higher) in a relevant discipline.
* A high level of professional industry practice or academic experience.
* Teaching or training experience either in a higher‐education or professional environment.
* Experience in Computer Science and IT fields.
* Technical knowledge – Software Development, Cybersecurity, Data Science and AI, Networking, Database systems, Computer systems and hardware.
* Teaching experience: Ability to convey foundational Computer Science and IT concepts effectively and guide students through practical, hands‐on exercises.
* Methodology expertise – Strong knowledge of software development life cycles, particularly Agile methodologies, and familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA.
* Industrial experience – Demonstrated practical experience in software development or systems analysis, including requirements analysis, solution design, and project scoping in real‐world environments.
* Communication skills – Strong ability to teach both the technical and collaborative aspects of software development, emphasising real‐world applicability.
* Tools and resources – Proficiency in using industry‐standard tools for software development and project management, such as Python, SQL, JIRA, Git, Trello, or other Agile management software.
* Passion to assist students reach their full academic potential while providing an outstanding student experience.
* High level of critical thinking and problem‐solving abilities, met with outstanding organisational and communication skills.
* Adaptability and confidence in teaching new units, subjects, and emerging technologies.
