THE COMPANY

The HMA Group is an international engineering and manufacturing company specialising in the supply of wear‑resistant lining solutions, material handling equipment, boiler cleaning equipment and services, process instrumentation and valve solutions. Our wide range of equipment and services are used across all industries including mining, power generation, industrial, petrochemical, oil and gas, process, water and wastewater.


THE ROLE

Based at our NSW branch in Berkeley Vale and reporting to the Operations Manager you will assist in undertaking the following:

* Collaborate with relevant departments to identify purchasing needs and develop procurement plans.
* Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and maintain a qualified supplier base.
* Conduct quality audits on local and overseas vendors as required by business needs.
* Analyse and assess supplier proposals, quotations, and bids to determine the best value for the organisation.
* Generate purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in specifications, quantities, pricing, and delivery terms.
* Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely order processing, shipment, and delivery of goods and services.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring effective communication and prompt resolution of any issues or disputes.
* Assist Production Managers to monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to optimise stock levels and minimise carrying costs.
* Coordinate with internal stakeholders to identify obsolete or excess inventory and implement appropriate disposition strategies.
* Implement inventory control measures, such as regular stock counts and analysis of consumption patterns.
* Coordinate with freight forwarders (international shipping) for product deliveries.
* Monitor procurement costs and identify opportunities for savings without compromising quality.
* Maintain company estimating sheets with current pricing.
* Assist Production Manager with the management of projects through their workshops from time to time.
* Use the company ERP/CRM to purchase materials, control stock and monitor vendor performance.
* Purchase job‑specific materials and services.
* Liaise with sub‑contractors, suppliers, stores, accounts and management.
* Check drawings before issuing to vendors.


ABOUT YOU

To be successful candidates will have the following skills and attributes:

* Experience with procurement and logistics principles.
* Ability to read and understand drawings.
* Proficient in MS Office and Visual manufacturing software.
* Sound written and oral communication skills.
* Good at maths and statistics.
* Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent communication abilities.
* Ideally a strong procurement history with proven ability to negotiate with vendors.
* A "hands‑on", self‑motivated approach with a drive to get tasks completed on time.
