About the Role
As Transport Section Lead, you will take charge of everything transport related.
Your responsibilities include leading and growing a team delivering transport projects in South Australia. Successfully find, tender and win projects. Efficiently schedule resources, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and maintain accurate project records. Provide monthly reports to senior management. Provide expertise in engineering drawings, designs, and reports, ensuring compliance with Austroads guidelines, Australian Standards and industry best practices. Drive ongoing improvements within the Civil team, offer technical leadership on complex engineering matters, and conduct insightful project reviews.
Skills & Experience
As the successful candidate, you can anticipate a variety of responsibilities that draw upon your existing proficiencies as an experienced transport engineer in design, project and team management. This is a position which will enable you to grow your skills and expertise, requiring both effective leadership and strong technical proficiency.
The position scope will consist of a variety of transport projects including bulk earthworks, civil infrastructure, storm water drainage, access tracks, major roads, intersections and erosion and sediment control design. Candidates who have experience in management from client side or contractor side roles are encouraged to apply.
Skills include:
Manage multi-disciplinary engineering projects, including technical, commercial and administrative aspects.
Understanding of organisational and team needs and processes.
Ability to undertake business development to grow the pipeline of works and team.
Input, manage and review civil engineering drawings, design and technical reports.
Ensure engineering design practices and standards in the organisation are in accordance with Austroads guidelines, Australian Standards and codes as appropriate, meeting industry best practice.
Prepare concept, feasibility and detailed design documentation and obtain relevant reviews and approvals.
Meet with project team on a regular basis to provide advice and mentoring on operational, project and management responsibilities.
Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering
Chartered with Engineers Australia, or the ability to become so
Established relationships with local government, state government and contractors in South Australia
High level communication, interpersonal and team management skills
Advanced time management, planning and organisational skills
Advanced initiative and ability to solve problems
