About the Role

As a Principal Safety Specialist, you will drive a strong safety culture and support teams to deliver safe outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established civil construction company with operations across the renewables, infrastructure and civil construction sectors.


Key Responsibilities:

* Implement effective WHS management systems in accordance with company procedures and legislation.
* Conduct regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and risks.
* Support hazard identification, risk assessment and control implementation to ensure a safe working environment.
* Coordinate and deliver comprehensive safety inductions, toolbox talks and pre-start briefings to equip employees with essential knowledge.
* Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis and close-out of corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
* Support operational teams with safety planning for various tasks, including drilling and piling operations, working at heights and in confined spaces, lifting and crane operations, traffic management and mobile plant, working near live services.
* Prepare detailed safety reports, maintain accurate documentation and assist with audits to ensure compliance.
* Actively promote and strengthen a positive, proactive safety culture across all projects by fostering open communication and encouraging employee participation.


Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

* A strong background in occupational health and safety with experience in managing WHS management systems.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with employees at all levels.
* Ability to conduct thorough site inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and risks.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including WHS Acts and Codes of Practice.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate incidents and develop corrective actions.
