Australian Fluid Handling (AFH), proudly owned by Torishima, is a leading provider of engineered pump and compressor solutions. We design, supply, and service a wide range of fluid handling equipment across critical industries including oil & gas, mining, water, and infrastructure.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Service Technician to join our team at our Perth, Western Australia branch.
Role Summary
This is a hands-on role involving the service, repair, and overhaul of a wide range of rotating equipment, with a strong focus on centrifugal pumps and compressors. Equipment includes both general-purpose and heavy-duty units built to API standards (including API 610, API 685, API 675 and API 618).
The role reports to the Workshop Supervisor (Perth), who is responsible for both workshop-based and on-site service activities. You will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality workmanship, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction, while supporting AFH's reputation for reliability and technical excellence across Australia's water, industrial, and resources sectors.
The main job responsibilities and functions of the Service Technician are listed below. The position may require additional duties/responsibilities that may not be outlined below, and specific functions are subject to change.
* Perform service, maintenance, and overhaul of pumps and compressors, including general-purpose and heavy-duty units to API standards.
* Accurately diagnose mechanical issues and carry out high-quality repairs in the workshop and, when required, at customer sites across Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
* Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and AFH's Integrated Management System.
* Collaborate with engineering, sales, and customer support teams to provide technical input and field feedback on equipment performance and serviceability.
* Maintain detailed service reports, inspection records, and job documentation to support warranty, quality, and traceability requirements.
* Build and maintain strong customer relationships by delivering professional service, providing technical advice, and communicating clearly during and after service visits.
* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in service processes and support internal training and mentoring of junior technicians.
* Assist with equipment assembly, testing, and commissioning for new projects as required
Qualifications & Requirements
* Certificate III in Engineering (or equivalent).
* Minimum of 5 years' experience servicing pumps and compressors.
* Familiarity with API standards (highly regarded).
* Strong troubleshooting skills on pumps and pumping systems.
* Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel.
* Professional communication skills with both colleagues and clients.
* Flexibility to handle diverse tasks and changing priorities.
* Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
