Total Remuneration Package valued at up to $182,461. Base salary ranges from $101,122 to $160,983, plus leave loading and employer's superannuation contribution. Base salary steps reflect experience; progression to the top step is not automatic and requires advancement through salary steps and Advanced Certification level against the NSW School Counselling Service PPF.

Job Context
School counsellors are an essential part of the department's School Counselling Service. They provide counselling and psychological assessment to complement and enhance teachers' work, supporting student learning and wellbeing outcomes. The role offers professional development opportunities and the chance to impact the lives of children and young people.
The successful candidate will be based at Bourke Public School with opportunities to work across primary and high school aged students. This role engages with diverse student cohorts and school communities and collaborates with multiple stakeholders and external agencies within a multidisciplinary team.
Regular professional supervision is provided with the Senior Psychologist Education, and participation in group and peer supervision within the district school counselling team. Ongoing professional development is offered, and the NSW Department of Education supports registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Other benefits include school holiday leave, travel allowances, health and wellbeing benefits (Fitness Passport), and indemnity insurance as a psychologist.
Bourke Public School draws enrolments from the Shire of Bourke, situated on the Darling River in far north-west NSW. Current enrolment is approximately 182 students (including 78% Aboriginal students and 3 special/Support classes). The school has a supportive Parents and Citizens Association and Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) and focuses on Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), Digital Technologies, and targeted Learning and Support processes.

Specific Selection Criteria
* Experience in counselling using evidence-based interventions with an understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people.
* Experience in psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for diverse learners.
Conditions
* Be a registered or provisionally registered psychologist, or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Ability and willingness to travel between worksites.
* Under the Teachers award (Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2024). To apply, you must have unconditional full approval to teach or eligibility to apply for approval to teach. If you do not hold full approval, commence the application process concurrently with this opportunity.
The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000 (conditions apply). If applying for ongoing part-time work, payment will be pro-rata.
